About Chemistry

The Science faculty of the college was established on 29-08-1978. The Department of Chemistry was a founding department in the Stream. Sri Rajen Das, Sri Lila Saikia were the founder faculty members of the department. Sri Jatin Mahanta, Ms. Arpana Dutta Dihingia, Sri Jiban Ch. Dehingia, Late Dilip Goswami, Sri Loknath Sarmah joined the department in later period. In 1980, Degree course was introduced. The department produces distinguish alumni who have engaged in different sphere of life.

 

Eligibility for Admission : For Major course, minimum 45% in aggregate and 50% marks in Chemistry in HS Final Examination.

 

Programme Specific Outcome (PSO)

PSO1.

This programme can lead for the qualitative treatment of liquids, its vapours pressure, surface tension and can apply to industry and medicinal fields.

PSO2.

This programme can help in qualitative treatment of acid base reactions in industry, Medicinal fields, and selection of indicators in Industry.

This programme also applied for purification of and refining of metals by modern method, zone refining, vacuum are process in steel industry.

PSO3.

This programme can applied for inorganic qualitative analysis in Industry and Medicinal fields. Also help in organic preparation for synthesis in Medicinal field.

PSO4.

This programme can lead to determination and potentio metric titration of strong acid-strong base in electrochemical cell etc. Also help in chromatographic separation of amino acids from mixtures.

PSO5.

This programme helps in estimation of compounds by conductrometry method in liquor industry. Also in estimation of total hardness of water in water purification system. Also used in food analysis in industry.

PSO6.

Help in preparation of in organic complex and their use in Industry. This programme can be used for preparation of dyes and application in cotton industry, synthetic fibers’ etc. This programme can also be applied for green environment by the use of green catalyst in ENV awareness programme.
