The Science faculty of the college was established on 29-08-1978. The Department of Botany was a founding department in the Stream. Sri Kartik Pathak, Sri Gunindra Saikia and Sri Kiran Ch. Sarmah were the founder faculty members of the department. Ms. Mrigakshi Dutta Hazarika, Sri Probin Kr. Deuri and Sri Paresh Dutta joined the department in later period. In 1980, Degree course was introduced and Major in Botany was started in 1990. Sri Gunindra Saikia of the department is the present Vice-Principal of the College. The department produces distinguish alumni who have engaged in different sphere of life.
Eligibility for Admission : For Major course, minimum 45% in aggregate and 50% marks in Biology in HS Final Examination.
